About Me

Hi, I am Yicheng Rui. I am currently a PhD candidate in Astronomy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. My research interests lie in exoplanet detection, time-domain astronomy, AI4Science, and Science4AI.

I am currently working on the Tianyu Project, serving as a full-stack developer for observation control and data processing. I have experience in handling large-scale survey data and developing algorithms for high-precision photometry and astrometry.

I am also an amateur in classical music, history, astrophotography, DOTA2, and robotic.

Working on a 1-meter optical survey telescope in Lenghu.

  • Developed DeepAP: A deep learning framework for aperture photometry (~59,000× speed-up).
  • Built a distributed data pipeline (MySQL + RabbitMQ) for ~20TB/year data.
  • Developing the OCS for Tianyu telescope.

Mitigating Astrometric Bias

Focused on high-precision barycentric correction for radial-velocity time series.

  • Developed a gradient-based method to correct biases in stellar astrometric parameters using PEXO.
  • Critical for Earth-twin exoplanet searches.

LenghuSky-8
LenghuSky-8: Multimodal Dataset, Segmentation, and Weather Nowcasting
2024 - 2026

Developed an 8-year, 429k-image all-sky camera dataset from Lenghu, Qinghai; accepted by CVPR 2026 Findings.

  • Performed absolute astrometric calibration and constructed star-aware cloud masks.
  • Benchmarked cloud segmentation and weather nowcasting models.
  • Evaluated representation and forecasting models including DINOv3 linear probing and ConvLSTM.
